Preparing a Model for Substance (Film)

Inside Maya

  1. Select a piece of the model

  2. Open hypershade

  3. Assign a different material for each part of the object

  4. When done select the model

  5. Export selection options

    1. File type dropdown→ .fbx (obj also works)

Inside substance

  1. Template → ASM PBR metallic
  2. Document Resolution → 2048
  3. Use UV Tile Workflow
    1. This is because we used multiple UV sets, if you didn't don't click this
